This is an unofficial practice tool. It is not affiliated with the National Agency for Education (NŠA), the Migration Department or any other state institution. The questions were written independently from the text of the Constitution – they are not real exam questions. Always check official information on the official websites.

Who needs these exams?

Foreigners applying for Lithuanian citizenship by naturalisation, and most foreigners applying for a permanent residence permit (EU long-term resident status), must pass two exams: the state language exam (category I, level A2) and the exam on the basics of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania. Citizenship and permanent residence require the same language level – A2.

Official samples – link

Lithuania's National Agency for Education (NŠA) publishes one official practice test for the state language exam (A2, Category I). For the Constitution exam NŠA publishes no sample questions – only the exam programme (topic list). Our questions are original, written from that programme and the text of the Constitution; they are not official exam questions.

Who is exempt

Under the Law on Citizenship and the Law on the Legal Status of Aliens, people exempt from the exams include those aged 65 or over, people with a 0–55% working capacity (participation) level, people with severe chronic mental disorders, and children. People who already hold a state language category certificate do not need to take the language exam. Check the laws for the exact conditions.
