Who needs A1?
Foreigners who sell goods or provide services directly to customers (in shops, cafés, taxis, delivery, hotels, beauty salons and so on), and seasonal workers. The A1 requirement for foreigners applies for two years; after that, A2 will be needed to keep working with customers. Employers must make sure customers are served in Lithuanian. For people with temporary protection (war refugees from Ukraine), the state-language categories do not apply to employment, but an employer may still require Lithuanian.
